How do I make my tires last longer?
Tips to keep your tires lasting longer
Tires are one of the costliest parts of your vehicle that requires changes on a regular basis. We have come up with a few tips to keep your tires moving longer. Keep reading to learn more.
Check your air pressure
One of the quickest ways to wear out your tires is by having low air pressure. Every month tires can lose about a pound per square inch of pressure. In the wintertime, cold air can create a low-pressure level and, in the summer, it can increase the pressure level. Making sure to keep that pressure consistent will improve your gas mileage and keep them from wearing out too quickly.
Rotate your tires
Your tires typically wear out on specific spots as you drive around. We recommend having your tires rotated every 5,000 miles to even out those areas. A good way to remember to do this is by rotating them every time you get your oil changed. These two services fit the same schedule.
Keep them balanced
Another service you can have done while rotating your tire is having them balanced. Tires often come with a heavy spot and ensuring that they are balanced will decrease vibration and uneven wear on your tire.
Get your alignment checked
If you’ve been noticing that your car has been pulling or drifting from one side or the other your alignment might be off. When this happens it could wear down your tire tread. We suggest getting your alignment checked at least twice a year.
