What do the indicator/warning lights mean in my 2020 BMW X5?

When any light turns on, it can be very stressful, especially if you do not know what it means. We have compiled all the light meanings inside the 2020 BMW X5 so you know what is going on. Keep reading to see what each light means.
Red Lights
Airbag System
This light means the airbag system and belt tensioner may not be working as it should.
Brake System
When illuminated, this light means the braking system is impaired. You can continue to drive moderately but have your brakes checked sooner than later.
Safety belt reminder
This will flash when the driver or passenger is not buckled.
Safety belt reminder for backseats
This lets the driver know the passengers in the backseat are not buckled in.
Yellow Lights
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
This means the Brake Assistant function is not activated. Avoid sudden braking and keep in mind longer braking distance.
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
When this light flashes, it is letting you know the vehicle is stabilized. When this happens, reduce speed and modify your driving style.
DSC is deactivated
This lets you know the DSC is turned off.
Emissions
When this light illuminates, your emissions are deteriorating and you need to have your vehicle checked out soon. If the light is flashing, there is excessive misfiring in your engine.
Steering system
Your steering system may not be working if this light turns on.
Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM)
This light turns on if you have a flat tire or low pressure in one of them.
Green Lights
Automatic Hold
When this light is activated, your vehicle is automatically held in place when it is stationary.
Front fog lights
This lets you know your front fog lights are switched on.
High-beam Assistant
When turned on, this will automatically switch your high beams on and off for you.
Lane departure warning
This indicator light will turn on to show the system is in use.
Low beams
This means your low beams are turn on.
Parking lights
This illuminates when your parking lights are switched on.
Safety belt reminder for rear seats
Shows up when the safety belt is buckled.
Turn signal
Shows when the turn signal is switched on. If it blinks faster than normal, this indicated the signal bulb is not working.
Blue lights
High beams
The light lets you know your high beams are activiated.
